Rose Magness, the story’s matriarchal narrator, and songs, such as the show-opening “Because It’s Christmas,” the title song “Christmas In My Hometown,” and the heartfelt “Show Me The Way To Bring Christmas,” weave the audience through a menagerie of holiday emotions that spans three Christmases. The first act reflects how one person’s actions can impact an entire city during the holiday season. Rose invites the audience into her neighborhood as “The Doors of Christmas” are opened for a look into the lives of five families, and it all revolves around the neighborhood’s long-standing door decorating contest.
Christmas in My Hometown is not part of our regular season. It is an ala carte presentation, a gift to the Broken Arrow Community Playhouse from the playwright, Steve Cowen, and the composer, Scott Brister. Both local BA residents, Cowen and Brister are excited to share Christmas in My Hometown with everyone Dec. 2-4 and 9-11! The production is sponsored by Next Door Escapes and Entertainment.
