Call For Scripts and Directors
The theme is "The Mother Road (Trip)" as Oklahoma celebrates the anniversary of Route 66, a critical highway that helped grow Oklahoma and the Tulsa and its surrounding communities. The Playhouse is seeking scripts and directors for its fourth annual short play festival.
Script Guidelines

Submissions are open to playwrights over 18 who currently reside in Oklahoma, and may be of any race, color, ethnicity, gender identity, or background.

Scripts must be 10 minutes long and formatted in Dramatist Guild format.

Scripts must be original and previously unproduced. A workshop reading is acceptable.

The theme is “The Mother Road (Trip)” Be creative with storytelling and genre (comedy, rom-com, drama, horror, suspense, musical)!

Plays should be written with reasonable production requirements regarding cast size (a maximum of 5 speaking roles, please).

Technical requirements: think in terms of minimalist theatre. BACP will provide a table, 2-3 chairs, and a bench. Lighting: Lights up, lights down, and perhaps a spot, if needed. Please keep sound effects to a minimum.

Musicals are allowed with wholly original music and lyrics.

Please submit scripts with a “PG” rating. (Mild cursing and sexual innuendo are acceptable.)

You may submit a maximum of two different scripts; only one script per playwright is eligible for production.

We do not accept scripts written wholly or in part by generative AI.
Submission Information
The submission deadline is February 26, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Late submissions will not be considered.
Playwrights may submit scripts in Word or PDF format to BACPShorts@gmail.com
Scripts must be formatted according to Dramatist Guild guidelines.
Title of the play and page numbers must appear on every page.
Playwright’s name must NOT appear on any page.

Playwrights with produced scripts receive a modest royalty fee. Chosen playwrights must attend one rehearsal; Zoom attendance is allowed. Please email BACPShorts@gmail.com with any questions you may have.
Director Applications
BACP is currently accepting online applications for Shorts directors. This is an excellent opportunity to gain directing experience!
Applicants must be available for auditions March 7-8, 2026. Tech week begins April 19, 2026 with performances April 24-26, 2026.
